AEDP - Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)

If you have ever felt like you know what’s “wrong”, maybe even know what to say to challenge your negative thinking or what things to do that “should” help you feel better, but still feel frustrated by the lack of change in how you feel in your life day to day, you might be interested in tapping into your right brain and learning more about Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy…
Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP): Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy works from the very human idea that some feelings and difficult experiences are just too overwhelming to address on your own. AEDP relies on the healing power inherent in supportive, caring relationships to metabolize painful feelings, losses and traumas by safely exploring and experiencing emotions at a bodily level in transformative ways. According to AEDP, people are wired for growth and positive change, which can happen more readily when they can not only understand and describe their problems and strengths (left brain), but also can deeply experience the painful and positive aspects of their lives in new ways (right brain). In short, AEDP is like having a guide working with you in the present moment to help you feel and deal with uncomfortable or painful feelings, moving you towards a feeling you hoped you could have, to feel like yourself again.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

If you like thinking systematically and rationally, setting agendas, and making clear-cut, action-oriented goals, you might be interested in learning more about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy…

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a relatively short-term, active treatment for a wide range of mental health issues including: depression, anxiety, anger, loneliness, panic attacks, perfectionism, procrastination, discomfort in social situations, and self-criticism. CBT has been found to be an effective form of treatment for children, adolescents and adults through decades of clinical trials. The focus of treatment is on identifying how you are thinking, feeling, and behaving in your daily life and then understanding how each dimension of these thoughts, emotions and behaviors impact one another. CBT helps people identify patterns of biases in their thinking and provides guidance on how to change these distortions that are negatively impacting their mood and/or behavior. CBT is an empowering treatment that encourages you to test out ways to challenge negative patterns of thought or behavior in between sessions, during real-life situations and stressors, so that you can increase your competency and sense of efficacy in dealing with emotional issues on your own. Out adult therapy NYC team are here to support you.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

If you are looking for a skills-based approach to help manage strong emotions and interpersonal conflict, you might be interested in learning more about Dialectical Behavior Therapy…
Dialectical Behavior Therapy was first developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD and is intended to help individuals who have significant difficulty regulating their emotions and their behaviors. This approach combines behavior therapy (through skill building) and emotional validation (through fostering acceptance). Your clinician will design a treatment plan based on your needs, which includes individual and group therapy, targeting pervasive emotional dysregulation and improving interpersonal relationships.
Mindfulness Based Therapies

Mindfulness-Based Therapies

If you are feeling constantly stressed and overwhelmed, operating on autopilot in your life, have difficulty regulating your emotions, want to increase your self-compassion and self-acceptance, you might be interested in learning about Mindfulness-Based Therapies…
Mindfulness is a commonly used term with many meanings. Here we refer to mindfulness as cultivating a sense of awareness and acceptance of the present moment. Mindfulness-Based Therapies include numerous evidence-based therapies that have been adapted around mindfulness to deal with serious challenges and enhance overall well-being. These therapies include: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), a range of breathing practices, acceptance strategies to work with thoughts and emotions, and practices in cultivating self-compassion. A large growing body of research shows that training our brain to be mindful, to be aware in the moment, actually remodels the structure of our brain to improve our attention, focus, problem solving, emotion regulation, self-compassion, attunement and connection to self and others, and even alters the way the brain responds to stress.
